|Measure U Presentation
Representatives of the Measure U for Carp Schools Committee, led by Measure U Campaign Chair Marybeth Carty, gave a presentation on what passage of Measure U envisions for Carpinteria's schools.
Presentation on the National Student Clearinghouse
CUSD is member of the National Student Clearinghouse. Through the Clearinghouse, the District is able to track the college progress of its CHS graduates. As part of THRIVE Carpinteria, the District can, for the first time, receive information on post-graduation progress. A copy of Bob Keatinge's presentation is attached.
From Superintendent Paul Cordeiro
--Mr. Cordeiro announced that he will be attending the Strive Together Convening from October 15-17 in San Diego. Strive Together is a national organization providing coordination and support to numerous "cradle-to-career" entities (like THRIVE Carpinteria) around the nation. Mr. Cordeiro will be joined by representatives of three other Santa Barbara County THRIVE initiatives (Goleta, Santa Maria, Guadalupe). The Santa Barbara County "team" will be looking for new strategies to message the effort and to increase financial investment.
--Mr. Cordeiro reminded everyone of the November 17 annual community meeting (6:00 pm., CHS cafeteria). This year's meeting will focus on the many changes in California public education (new standards, new testing, new accountability). Should Measure U pass, a portion of the meeting will be dedicated to explaining next steps.
--Finally, Mr. Cordeiro gave his quarterly update, attached below.
