|Administrator-in-Charge - Jamie Persoon
Jamie Persoon is a life-long Carpinterian, a product of Carpinteria schools, a former elementary school teacher across the grades at both Aliso and Canalino schools, and a site principal at Canalino School. She has been with Carpinteria Unified School District since 1999. Currently, Jamie is both the principal at Canalino School, and the Administrator in Charge for CUSD.
Mrs. Persoon has a Bachelor of Arts in English from University of California, Santa Barbara, and a teaching credential and Masters of Education also from UCSB. She holds a clear administrative credential as well. Jamie has had leadership roles for many years in elementary curriculum, instruction, and assessment. Her interests have always centered on high quality instruction that gives access to all kids.
In 1994, Jamie was awarded the Junior Carpinterian of the Year, and continues to feel the commitment to serve her own community. In 2011, Jamie was the Carpinteria Unified School District’s Educator of the Year, and in 2013, her staff and parents nominated her and she was selected as the Santa Barbara County Office of Education’ Crystal Apple Administrator of the Year. With much of her work on cultural equity and access to education, Anti-Defamation League honored Mrs. Persoon with an Educator of the Year award in 2016.
